Terms of Service

The rules for using Wellphrase. Written in plain English, because the lawyer-speak version doesn't help anyone.

01The service

Wellphrase is a Chrome browser extension that rewrites text you've typed into supported AI chat sites (currently Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, Copilot, and Perplexity) by sending it to a third-party language model and returning a revised version. We may add or remove supported sites at any time.

02Your account & the free tier

You can use the free tier without an account. The free tier is limited to 10 rewrites per device per day, resetting at midnight UTC. The limit and pricing may change with at least 14 days' notice for active subscribers.

03Studio subscription

• Trial: Studio includes a 7-day free trial. A valid payment method is required to start the trial. You will not be charged during the trial.
• Billing: After the trial ends, your card is charged $9.00 USD per month, automatically renewing each month until cancelled.
• Cancellation: You can cancel anytime from the extension's Manage Subscription panel or by emailing us. Cancelling during the trial means $0 charged. Cancelling after the trial stops the next renewal — you keep Studio features through the end of your current paid period.
• Refunds: If you cancel within 14 days of your first paid charge and you've used Studio less than 30 times in that period, email us and we'll refund the most recent payment. Outside that window, fees are non-refundable except where required by law.
• Price changes: If we change the subscription price, current subscribers get at least 30 days' notice and can cancel before the new price takes effect.

04Acceptable use

Don't use Wellphrase to:

• Generate, refine, or distribute illegal content (CSAM, terror, fraud, etc.)
• Harass, threaten, or impersonate other people
• Bypass the daily free limit by spinning up multiple devices, fake accounts, or VPN rotation
• Reverse-engineer, scrape, or rebuild the API for use outside the official extension
• Resell or white-label the service without our written permission
• Violate any law in your jurisdiction or in the United States

We can suspend or terminate accounts that break these rules, with or without notice.

05Your content

You own the prompts you write and the rewrites that come back. We don't claim ownership of either. We do not store your prompts or rewrites — they pass through our API in transit only. You're responsible for not putting anything into Wellphrase that you're not allowed to share with a third-party AI service.

06AI output disclaimer

Wellphrase is a wrapper over third-party language models. Output may be inaccurate, biased, offensive, or otherwise unsuitable. You are solely responsible for reviewing and using the output. Don't rely on Wellphrase for medical, legal, financial, or safety-critical decisions.

07Our intellectual property

The Wellphrase name, logo, website, extension code, and design are owned by us. You get a personal, non-transferable, revocable license to use the extension while you comply with these terms. That's the extent of the licence — nothing else is granted.

08Warranties & liability

Wellphrase is provided "as is" and "as available", without any warranties of any kind, express or implied. To the maximum extent allowed by law, our total liability to you for any claim related to the service is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the previous 12 months, or (b) $50 USD.

We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages — including lost profits, lost data, or harm caused by AI output.

09Termination

You can stop using Wellphrase at any time by uninstalling the extension. We can suspend or terminate your access if you violate these terms or use the service in a way that creates risk for us or other users. If we terminate without cause, we'll prorate any unused paid time and refund it.

10Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be announced via email (if you have an account) and via a notice in the extension at least 14 days before they take effect. Continuing to use the service after that means you accept the new terms.

11Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the European Union and the country in which we are established. Any dispute that can't be resolved by friendly conversation will be brought in the courts of that jurisdiction. If you're a consumer in the EU, this doesn't override mandatory consumer-protection laws in your country.
